What is a Believer’s belief???

John 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

So, the question is this: The Bible states that the devils also believe and do tremble. So, what makes their believing different from a Christian believing? I have previously done a study on “Do the devils believe in Christ??” which explains that devils “believing” is a mere acknowledgment of Christ’s existence. This meaning is found in the fact that the original Greek word is actually a different word than the word “believe” that is found in John 3. I have shown the difference below:

In James 2:19 the word πιστεύουσιν is used, whereas in John 3:15 it is πιστεύων.

Now, when studying the difference in these words we find that their meanings are very different. In John 3:15, this word’s meaning is: “used especially of the faith by which a man embraces Jesus, i.e., a conviction, full of joyful trust, that Jesus is the Messiah — the divinely appointed author of eternal salvation in the kingdom of God.”

Notice the difference in meanings between the two words in “devils believe” and “Believer’s believe”.

This then goes on to what Salvation is all about:

Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Rom 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
